Before using Keyavi to protect files, you'll sign into Keyavi Desktop using an organization code that registers your device. After your organization's IT administrator adds you to the system, you'll receive the organization code and instructions for signing in for the first time.

When you sign in for the first time, you'll add a default profile, which is the profile Keyavi signs into automatically. After that, you can add more profiles and change which profile is your default. You'll also be registering your computer so that you can use the application.

The following content is primarily for Windows environments, except where we call out specific instructions that are for the macOS.

If Keyavi isn't installed​

Most organizations will have the installation pushed out via MSI from your IT department. However, for individual cases, you may download it from the Keyavi Portal. You'll need to sign into the Keyavi Portal to download it.

Sign in for the first time​

When you sign in for the first time, you're adding a default profile, which is the profile Keyavi signs into automatically. You're also registering your computer so that you can use the application.

  1. Open Keyavi.

  2. Enter a descriptive and meaningful profile name, for example, Default or Keyavi USA. You can create multiple profiles, so keep the naming meaningful but straightforward.

    You won’t be able to rename a profile once it’s added. You’ll need to delete it and add it again using the organization code for that profile.

  3. Paste the organization code you received from your organization.

    tip

    If you’re unable to locate the organization code, contact your support team or Keyavi User or Security Administrator. They can provide you with the organization code. You’ll provide the organization code only once as it’s part of the setup.

  4. Click Save. The profile is automatically set as your default profile. When you have multiple profiles, you'll be able to specify which profile you want as the default.

  5. Click Yes when prompted to register your computer.
