Keyavi Web
Not all users can download and install Keyavi Desktop, so Keyavi offers a web client to open IKD files. Keyavi Web offers most of the features found in Keyavi. The only difference is that you won't be able to right-click on files to protect or decrypt them.
Due to browser platform limitations we recommend that you use the Keyavi Desktop applications if you need to prevent protected content from screensharing.
important
You can only protect one file at a time and it's in Read-only mode. Also, make sure to allow the Keyavi Web to access your location, otherwise the file won't appear.
To open Keyavi Web, log into the Keyavi Portal and go to Clients > Keyavi Web > Open Keyavi Web.
Supported file types
Keyavi Web works in Read-only mode and supports the following file types:
- Excel
- Word
- PowerPoint
- RTF
- HTML
- Text
Known limitation
It's possible to grant Read-only access to external users for Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx) files. However, external users won't be able to open the files, and an error message will display.
Dashboard
Keyavi Web dashboard shows the trends in access attempts over the past 30 days.
The chart shows:
Rejects – The number of unauthorized access attempts.
Violations – The number of attempts by an authorized party opening your organizations' files, but the policy conditions set by the file owner, such as geolocation or time embargo, weren't met.
Success – The number of successful authorized access attempts in the last 30 days of your organization's files.
View recent activity
You can drill down further into the trends.
To view the recent activity, select the trend you want to view. The screenshot shows the successful attempts in the last 30 days of the files you protected and opened (decrypted) in any of the Keyavi applications.
Protect a file
Unlike Keyavi Desktop, you can protect only one file at a time, but you can still grant access to users or groups and define access duration.
Log into the Keyavi Portal and go to Clients > Keyavi Web > Open Keyavi Web.
Click Select A File, select the file you want to protect, and click Open.
The file you want to protect appears under the Select A File button.
To add authorized users:
a. Click Select User/Group.
b. Select the groups or users you want to access the protected file and click Authorize.
To add an authorized time period (access time), select the calendar and clock icons.
Start Date Time - Earliest date and time the data becomes accessible to authorized users. The start date should be before the end date.
End Date Time - Expiration date and time the data becomes inaccessible to authorized users. The end date should be after the start date.
Click Protect. The file is protected in Read-only mode.
Open a protected file
If you've received a file with the IKD file extension and don't have Keyavi Desktop, you can use Keyavi Web to access protected data. When you open an IKD file, you're decrypting it.
Log into the Keyavi Portal and go to Clients > Keyavi Web > Open Keyavi Web.
Click Select A File, select the IKD file, and click Open.
The file you want to decrypt appears under the File Selected button.
Click Decrypt. The file automatically opens in a separate web browser tab.
